If you are regular to this blog then, you may be aware of Kaspersky ComputerBilde aka CBE edition which is similar to the regular edition but given for free to Magazine subscribers. Problem in CBE was it’s language interface – German which when tried in English threw License Error.
In this article, we are going to trick Kaspersky original (Any Language including English) to run execute license details of CBE but run like a Full Licensed version. MyDigitalLife suggested a trick to implant a DLL file of CBE version containing License activation information into the installation directory of regular Kaspersky Internet Security version.
1. Register on ComputerBild.de if you still haven’t. If already a member, move on to next step.
2. Go to Giveaway URL and Tick the check box for “Persönlichen Lizenzschlüssel anfordern oder verlängern” and click on “Lizenzschlüssel anfordern” link.
3. You will soon receive an email containing License Key which I guess is same for everyone – MBA76-XXXXX-XXXXX-AVH37 but still follow the above procedure as ComputerBild account is necessary for further renewals.
4. Download the KIS 2011 Trial Setup in your desired language from Kaspersky site.
5. Download cbi.dll which is extracted from the KIS 2011 CBE installation directory.
6. Start the installer you downloaded and on the first window, make sure you check on “Change Installation settings”
7. Then move on, keep on pressing next till you see the window as shown below. Uncheck the box infront of “Protect Installation Process”. This is crucial for our trick to work.
8. Press Next and Installer will now start start copying files, writing registry values, etc. Just when you see that installer is copying files, Press Cancel when the progress bar reaches in middle.
Don’t Press YES or NO for now and leave the window as it is.
9. Now, we have to replace the Original DLL with the downloaded one. Go to C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. Delete existing cbi.dll and paste the downloaded one.
10. You are free to resume installation now by press NO on confirmation window.
Installation completes and you are shown with the activation window. Enter the License Code received from ComputerBild in email and Press Activate.
If everything went fine, you will get Successful message with Kaspersky 2011 Internet Security activated for 3 months. Window is showing 71 days instead of 90 because this hack was implemented after 19 days since when CBE was released.
As I said above, ComputerBilde is necessary, here is it’s necessity. KIS 2011 CBE edition License Keys aren’t given for complete 1 year in one go but they need to be renewed every 3 months. Don’t worry as you have their account, email will come into inbox after completion of validity of the current license.
Note: This is the only trick I found which is working and can be used to convert Kaspersky Internet Security CBE edition permanently into English from German. Also, no License error occurred during the operation and I hope further activations will keep working as long as the DLL remains same.
